Precision and Versatility in Tissue Fixation

From fixation after sample collection through to sectioning and staining, STELLα’s comprehensive histology offerings are prepared to enable your science. We pride ourselves on our versatile and balanced approach to histology. Whether you want to pursue paraffin sections or cryosections we see your samples through the nuances of tissue processing, ensuring optimal quality for subsequent investigations. At STELLα, the fixation of your biological samples is executed with precision.  Tissue fixation:

Halts Decay

Preserves Morphology

Enhances Mechanical Stability

We have a deep-rooted understanding of fixation approaches for diverse tissue types and staining designs. If your experiment demands a specific fixation protocol, or if you have questions about any of our techniques, we’re here to assist and adapt to your requirements. Our team will work with you to ensure an optimal fixation method is selected for your samples.

Expertise in Paraffin Tissue Processing

Once the sample is fixed, it can be further processed before embedding.  This process removes water, clears the sample, and infiltrates it with paraffin wax.  Our histology technicians can manually process delicate samples, or we can batch-process large volumes of samples using our Magnus tissue processor from MileStone Medical. This tissue processor is an automated, ultra-rapid dual retort system that allows us to offer flexible workflows while also reducing chemical exposure risks for our histotechnicians.

Expertise in Processing for Cryosectioning

Not all tissue processing requires paraffin, and STELLα is well-equipped to assist with tissue preparation for cryosectioning. Fixed tissues are cryoprotected, and then flash-frozen with care.  The newly frozen tissue can then be embedded in a cryosection-compatible embedding medium (OCT).  If you have a preferred procedure for preparing tissue for cryosectioning our team will work with you.

Navigating through the Nuances of Embedding with STELLα

In the intricate world of histology, embedding is a pivotal bridge between the processing and sectioning of your tissue or sample.  Quality embedding enhances the manageability of samples and facilitates optimal sectioning. We anchor our embedding practices in precision, ensuring your samples are encased with utmost care.
